The province of Cavite was placed under a state of calamity on Wednesday due to the eruption of Taal Volcano.

The declaration was announced in a Facebook post of Cavite Vice Gov. Jolo Revilla.

“Ang Sangguniang Panlalawigan ng Cavite ay nagkaroon ng special session para buuin at aprubahan ang resolusyon na nagsasabi na ang buong lalawigan ng Cavite ay nasa State of Calamity dahil sa epekto ng dulot ng pagsabog ng bulkang Taal,” Revilla said.

(The Provincial Council of Cavite had a special session that created and approved a resolution stating that the entire province of Cavite is under a state of calamity because of the after-effects of the eruption of Taal Volcano.)

Revilla advised Cavite residents to keep themselves updated on official news and announcements.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said Alert Level 4 remains hoisted over Taal Volcano on Wednesday, warning about a possible hazardous explosive eruption within hours or days.

Residents within the 14-kilometer radius of the volcano were advised to evacuate due to the “high risk to pyroclastic density currents and volcanic tsunami.”
