Makati City gov’t reminds residents of total ban on firecrackers in some brgys

The local government unit (LGU) of Makati City has reminded residents to stay away from prohibited firecrackers for their own safety.

Makati City’s Ordinance No. 2010-A-020 bans the sale, manufacture, storage, possession, and use of all types of firecrackers or pyrotechnic devices and other explosive materials in Barangays Bangkal, Pio del Pilar, and Magallanes.

According to the local government, violators of the ordinance will be fined P5,000 or imprisoned for six months.

Minors aged 15 years old and below are also not allowed to buy any kind of firecrackers. Makati City Ordinance No. 1994-290 prohibits store owners from selling to them.

“Violators will be fined P1,000 and/or imprisoned for 15 days, or both at the discretion of the court.”

Philippine National Police Firearms and Explosives Office said prohibited firecrackers are Piccolo, Super lolo, Atomic Triangle, large Judas Belt, large Bawang, Pillbox, Bosa, Goodbye Philippines, Bin Laden, Mother Rocket, Lolo Thunder, Coke in Can, Atomic Bomb, Five Star, Pla-pla, Giant Whistle Bomb, Kabasi, and Watusi.

Makati LGU encouraged residents to report violators of the said ordinances by calling hotline 168 or by using the "How Can We Help" button of the Makatizen App.
