The majority of Filipinos in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) were satisfied with the performance of President Rodrigo Duterte for the past three months, based on the third quarter of 2019 Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey results.

In the nationwide survey conducted from Sept. 27 to 30, SWS found 94 percent of those in BARMM satisfied with Duterte’s work while three percent were not satisfied.

The remaining three percent were undecided about the matter.

These figures translate to a net satisfaction of “excellent” +90 (percentage of those satisfied minus percentage of those dissatisfied).

SWS said Duterte’s net satisfaction in BARMM is higher than in non-BARMM areas of Mindanao at “excellent” +74 (84 percent satisfied, 10 percent dissatisfied).

BARMM respondents were also more satisfied with the performance of the national administration at an “excellent” +81 net satisfaction (84 percent satisfied, three percent dissatisfied), than the non-BARMM areas at “very good” net satisfaction of +68 (78 percent satisfied, 10 percent dissatisfied).

“It may well be that the long-awaited Bangsamoro Organic Law providing for enhanced autonomy for the region, a key campaign promise of President Duterte, and which he has shepherded through Congress and a plebiscite ratification, is what drives the ‘excellent’ performance rating that the BARMM respondents give him,” SWS said.
