36 Japanese teenagers nabbed over telecom fraud

The Bureau of Immigration-Fugitive Search Unit (FSU-BI) arrested 36 Japanese teenagers allegedly engaged in telecom fraud when they swooped down on an apartelle on P. Ocampo Street, Makati City.

FSU Chief Bobby Roquepo said the arrest was made in cooperation with the Japanese embassy and the Japanese Police.

Aside from the arrest, BI agents seized more or less two billion yen which the suspects allegedly collected from the Japanese victims of their telecom fraud operations.

The FSU discovered that some of the suspects are allegedly members of the Yakuza group.
