DOH emergency, rapid assessment teams ready to mobilize

The Department of Health (DOH) expressed readiness to assist individuals affected during a series of earthquakes that struck Mindanao.

"Every time there is an earthquake all of our DOH regional offices, they mobilize their emergency teams, their rapid assessment teams," said Health Secretary Francisco Duque III.

"Of course we ensure the safety of the patients in the hospitals and then the employees of the DOH who might be affected," he added.

Duque also said that they also have engineers to assess the damage on health facilities.

"We have our engineers to look, assess the damage," he said.

On Thursday morning, a magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck Cotabato and other parts of Mindanao.

Some parts of Mindanao was also hit by a magnitude 6.6 earthquake last Tuesday, wherein nine people had died and hundreds of people were injured.
