The Sandiganbayan’s decision junking another ill-gotten wealth case against the Marcoses must be accorded respect and obedience, Presidential spokesman Salvador Panelo said.

Panelo explained that the government does not meddle in the affairs of the judiciary and instead would respect the court’s latest decision.

“The Administration does not interfere with the judiciary. The rule of law must always prevail in courts regardless of who are the parties. Their decision must be accorded respect and obedience,” he said.

The Sandiganbayan 4th Division has dismissed another forfeiture case of the ill-gotten wealth of the Marcoses through their suspected cronies. The ₱267.37-million civil case was junked reportedly due to insufficient evidence.

Early this month, the Sandiganbayan 2nd Division dismissed the ₱1.052-billion ill-gotten wealth case involving the Marcoses and suspected dummies also for insufficient evidence.
