Napolcom administers entrance, promotional exams for cops Sunday

Some 48,436 applicants will take the 2019 entrance and promotional examinations administered by the National Police Commission (Napolcom) on Sunday (October 27) at various testing centers in the country.

Napolcom Vice-Chairman and Executive Officer Atty. Rogelio T. Casurao said that 36,282 will take the Philippine National Police (PNP) entrance examination while 12,154 will apply for various promotional posts.

A total of 4,066 of the 36,282 examinees for the PNP entrance test and 1,904 of the 12,154 police examinees for promotional tests will be taking the PNP exams in the National Capital Region (NCR) testing centers, namely, Makati High School, Tibagan High School, Benigno Aquino High School and Fort Bonifacio High School 1 and 2, all in Makati City.

Casurao said Sunday’s examinations will cover the qualifying examination for Patrolman (PNP Entrance Examination) and the promotional examinations for Police Corporal and Police Staff Sergeant (Police Officer 4th Class Examination); Police Master Sergeant, Police Senior Master Sergeant, Police Chief Master Sergeant and Police Executive Master Sergeant (Police Officer 3rd Class Examination); Police Lieutenant and Police Captain (Police Officer 2nd Class Examination); and, Police Major and Police Lieutenant Colonel (Police Officer 1st Class Examination).

“The PNP entrance examination consists of questions on general information, verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning and logical reasoning; while the promotional examinations include general information, police administration and operations, and police customs and tradition/values and ethical standards,” Casurao said.

Applicants are instructed to proceed to their respective testing centers in the cities of Makati, San Fernando (La Union), Tuguegarao, Angeles (Pampanga), Cabuyao, Calapan, Iloilo, Cebu, Tacloban, Calbayog, Pagadian, Zamboanga, Cagayan de Oro, Davao, Koronadal, Baguio, Butuan and Cotabato and in the provinces of Batanes, Cavite, Quezon, Albay, Kalinga and Tawi-Tawi.

Casurao reminded the examinees to strictly comply with the prescribed dress code.

He added that applicants for the PNP entrance test should wear plain white T-shirt/polo shirt, dark pants and shoes while those who will take the promotional tests are required to wear GOA Type B (in field cap, no awards/medals, only accoutrements) or the PNP Patrol Shirt. Examinees NOT in the prescribed attire will not be allowed to enter the examination center.

Examinees should bring their notice of admission, pencil no. 2, black ballpen and any valid identification card with picture and signature. Examinees are also strictly prohibited to bring inside the testing center cellular phones, electronic gadgets, pagers or any two-way radio set, calculators, review materials, explosives, firearms or deadly weapons.

Casurao warned that examinees who will be caught in possession of cellular phones/electronic gadgets shall be automatically disqualified and, after due investigation, shall be directed to leave the exam center immediately.

Regional/Provincial testing centers shall not accept firearms for deposit or safekeeping.

The Commission has also reiterated that committing any form of cheating is unacceptable.

As per Napolcom Memorandum Circular No. 2013-007 issued on October 30, 2013, civilian examinees shall be permanently barred from taking the PNP entrance examination. Moreover, if these acts were committed by a police officer, he/she shall be charged with dishonesty and, if found guilty, be meted the penalty of dismissal from the service,’’ Casurao concluded.
