Well regarded and remembered as a humble and amiable executive, Uy has been working in the real estate industry for more than 30 years and spearheaded property developments from low cost to high-end projects.

His stellar career began after graduating from De La Salle University when he joined Phinma Properties in 1979. Uy spent 38 years in the Phinma Group of Companies where was Phima Property Holdings Corporation President and CEO and Senior Vice President of Philippine Investment Management Inc.

He also took the executive program at the National University of Singapore and University of California and received his MBA Degree at the Ateneo Graduate School of Business.

In 2012, 8990 founders Luis Yu and Marin Martinez invited him to become an Independent Director of the Company.

In 2016, following his retirement from Phinma, he joined 8990 as COO.

“If you’re talking about industry experience, relationships in the industry, Willie actually has it as well,” said former 8990 President and CEO Juanuario Jesus Atencio prior to turning over the reins of the company to Uy.

Uy graduated with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Marketing Management from De La Salle University in 1979. He had a Master in Business Administration from the Ateneo Graduate School of Business.

“Pending identification and determination of a replacement and until a new President is appointed to serve the unexpired portion of Mr. Willibaldo J. Uy’s term, the Company’s Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Alexander Ace Sotto, shall carry out the duties of president of the Company, in an acting capacity,” said 8990.
