"Please be advised that LRT-2 operations will not resume today. No LRT-2 operations from Santolan to Recto today," the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) tweeted.

"Our primary concern now is to determine the extent of the damage so as to ascertain the intergrity, stability, and safety of LRTA structures and facilities, said LRTA Administrator Gen. Reynaldo Barroya.

Barroya immediately called for a meeting among different concerned offices and the Maintenance Provideer to
order the immediate conduct of investigation on the cause of the incident and to assess the necessary actions.

LRTA apologized to the riding public and advised them to "find alternative modes of transportations."

" sincerely apologize to the affected passengers for the inconvenience the incident has caused and ensures that all efforts will be exhausted for a possible implementation of degraded operations from  Anonas or Cubao to Recto and vice versa tomorrow," he added.

LRT-2 temporarily suspended its train operations Thursday morning after a fire broke out on the railway between Anonas and Katipunan Stations in Quezon City.

LRTA said the fire was caused by a power rectifier near Katipunan Station that tripped.
