ADVISORY: Marcos Highway landslides cause heavy traffic

By JJ Landingin

At 7:10 AM Saturday, earth slides once again occurred at KO275+500, Sitio Begis, Brgy Poblacion, Tuba, Benguet along Marcos Highway which resulted in heavy traffic in the area.

The road is still OPEN TO ONE WAY TRAFFIC up to this time as the downgrading of the slide (benching) is ongoing and being undertaken by only one private backhoe in order to mitigate its occurrence of falling soil and rocks.

Expect traffic slow down in the area.

DPWH-CAR Benguet First District Engineering Office Maintenance Crew and members of the Philippine National Police are on-site to monitor the ground operations and assist the public.

Motorists are advised to travel along the road section with extreme caution as the vicinity is currently foggy and intermittent rainfall may also cause roads to be slippery.

The alternate routes are Asin-Nangalisan-San Pascual-Rizal-Anduyan Road and Naguilian (Baguio-Bauang) Road.
