This, after the town’s Sangguniang Bayan (SB) members, passed Resolution No. 14 on Thursday (August 15), declaring the CPP-NPA and its allied legal organizations as “persona non-grata”.

Likewise, the Liga ng mga Barangay passed Resolution No. 01, declaring the same.

The historic event last week was spearheaded by the local officials there led by San Luis town Mayor Phoebe L Corvera who also administered the oath of allegiance to the Philippine Constitution to 400 former supporters of CPP-NPA from the 25 barangay of San Luis.

As history would recall, San Luis which consists 80 percent of the Banwaon tribe in its local populace, while the rest are Manobo and Higaonon, was the former stronghold of the CPP-NPA terrorist.

This was the reason the town had been poor with economic improvements hardly realized, according to 1st Lt. Percival J. Carido, Civil Military Operations (CMO) officer of the Army’s 26th Infantry (Ever Onward) Battalion (26th IB) said.

The town declaration against the CPP-NPA was inspired from the latest declaration of Barangays San Pedro and Balit which were former mass bases of the terrorists NPA.
