Police Senior Master Sergeant Bernardo Cayabyab of the Manila Police District Homicide Section identified the victim as Alfredo Lansigan, 48, married, chairman of Barangay 161, Zone  14, Gagalangin, Tondo Manila.

He was rushed to Chinese General Hospital but he was declared dead after sustaining five gunshot wounds on the different parts of his body.

Cayabyab said the incident happened at around 9:30 a.m. on August 16 along Dagupan Extension corner Solis Street, Gagalangin, Tondo, Manila.

Santos also said that someone called the chairman on his phone and he immediately left their house.

According to Cayabyab, they are still looking the motive behind the killing.

Recovered from the crime scene were four fired cartridges.

A follow-up investigation is now underway to determine the identity of the gunmen, he added.
