The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) urged the public to discipline themselves to lessen the traffic in Metro Manila.

MMDA Spokesperson Celine Pialago said in a press conference on Wednesday that the public should impose discipline while the government is creating solutions to lessen the traffic in the Metro.
“Kinakailangan po natin dito yung tulong ng buong publiko magmula po sa drivers, sa commuters bystanders na mahilig magillegal parking, kelangan po natin silang maging disiplinado,” Pialago said.
“Yun po yung kelangan natin dito habang yung gobyerno po ay nagiisip at patuloy na gumagawa ng paraan ng solusyon para po sa lahat lalo na po dito sa Metro Manila,” she added.
Pialago also said that the help of other agencies is important in creating better solutions in solving the traffic in the Metro.
“ kaming mga solutions na lumabas, kagaya po ng pagkakaroon ng walkway for example pero ito ay nasa DOTr. Pagbibili ng mga franchise paghigpit sa mga lisensya sa LTFRB at LTO pagcrackdown ng colorum, isa lang kami sa ahensya na magiging katuwang sa pagcrackdown ng colorum pero if you’re talking about EDSA then kami po yung may agency on that,” Pialago said.
Pialago revealed that the volume of vehicles have been increasing in the past years.
“Noon ang dumadaan ay 200,000 daily, ngayon ang dumadaan po 386,000 to 402,000 daily in EDSA,” Pialago said.
“Yun lang po ang importante po nakuha ng ating mga kababayan sa media yung figures at facts na marelay sa public kung gaano na tayo kadami ngayon. Again iba noon, iba ngayon,” she added.
