A former Filipina housemaid was crowned Mrs. Earth Elite Wind 2019 in a pageant held in the US recently.
Jocylyn Silvosa Kennedy, who represented the Philippines in the competition, vowed to use her crown to protect and empower the youth in her journey as beauty queen.
"I will use my voice to empower, protect and care for the generation to come," Kennedy said.
She said joining pageants helped her conquer her fears.
“I am feeling so blessed and very thankful for the opportunities. Joining the international pageant helped me conquer my fear in public speaking and boost my confidence," said Kennedy.
She added: "I am very grateful for this opportunity to tell the my story to the entire world. I want to create a positive impact for the community (Filipino-American community) and the entire world."
Kennedy said: "Along the way, you experience and meet new friends. Sometimes in your journey, you will achieve your goals and arrive at your destinations. But the most important thing is you enjoy the journey."
