Road works resume in major thoroughfares in metropolis over the weekend

Rehabilitation and repair works will resume on some portions of major roads in the metropolis over the weekend.

In an advisory, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said it will conduct road repair activities in Metro Manila particularly on Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) and Circumferential Road-5 (C-5) this weekend starting 11 p.m. Friday.

Road works will be carried out at the southbound directions of EDSA from Roosevelt Avenue to Bansalangin Street, first lane from sidewalk; from Magallanes to Baclaran Bus Stop going to Magallanes-Alabang Bus Stop, outer lane; and from Eugenio Lopez Drive to Scout Borromeo, where desilting and construction of manhole will be conducted; and at the northbound direction from before New York Street, first lane from sidewalk.

Repair works will also be undertaken along C-5 southbound direction fronting SM Aura, the fourth lane from median; and at its northbound direction from fronting SM Aura, the fourth lane from the median.

Meanwhile, pavement rehabilitation will be implemented on Regalado Avenue, from Mindanao Avenue Extension to Quirino Highway, second lane from sidewalk, northbound; Katipunan Avenue, after Quirino Memorial Medical Center, second lane from sidewalk, southbound; Quirino Highway, from Junji Street to Salvia Street, inner lane, eastbound; and General Luis Street, from Oriental Tin to Pascual Road, eastbound.

The affected roads will be reopened by 5 a.m. Monday, DPWH-National Capital Region Director Ador Canlas said.

Due to expected traffic slowdown in affected areas, motorists are advised to take possible alternate routes, he added.
