The public is now being warned about a new modus operandi being used by thieves and pickpockets which uses ketchup as a way to lure their potential targets.
The said modus circulated through the internet after a netizen narrated her personal experience in her Facebook account.
Based on the netizen’s post, she said that a man called her attention regarding a red stain in her hair wherein she found out that it was ketchup.
Another man also tried to distract her when she took notice of the passenger seating beside her looking “attentively” at her cellphone.
When the netizen notices the three men signaling each other, she immediately brought out her alcohol to wash the stain and stayed alert until her stop.
The netizen also noted that the suspects were wearing casual clothes as if they’re just about to go to work.
“Guys, if something happens like this, be attentive. Safety first, don’t let them (catch) you off guard, and once you get off, go to a secure place and double-check your valuables and report immediately if something was stolen,” the netizen said in her post.
