The Philippines and 35 other countries can now download Spotify Lite - a version of the famous music streaming site that is ideal for users who want to save up on data and storage.

Spotify on Wednesday said Spotify Lite is a "small, fast, and simplified version" of the main app.

Like the main app, Spotify Lite users can also search, play, save, and share music from their favorite artists.

Spotify said what makes the lite version different from the main app is that it is "ideal for older devices and operating systems."

"It’s only 10 MB, so it’s quick to install and load while offering the same great listening experience that lets you discover, play, and enjoy millions of songs," Spotify said in its website.

Users of the app can also set a data limit for usage and will receive a notification once they reach it.

Spotify Lite also allows users to control and clear their cache in one tap.

“Spotify Lite was built from the ground up based on user feedback from around the world, allowing millions more to enjoy the world’s best music experience — especially in areas with limited bandwidth and phone storage,” Kalle Persson, Spotify Senior Product Manager, said.

All users - free or premium - and those who already have the main app, can download the lite version separately.

" used either alongside or independently from the main Spotify app on all Android phones running version 4.3 or higher," Spotify added.

Other countries where Spotify Lite can be downloaded are Brazil, Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Peru, Chile, Colombia, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Uruguay, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Algeria, Lebanon, Morocco, Tunisia, Oman, Jordan, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar, South Africa, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, and India.

The app is currently only available at Google Play.
