Craft beer group debunks viral post on crafted beers, spirits

Craft Beer Association of the Philippines (CBAP) debunks a viral post circulating on social media on 'unsafe' brews.

The post cited the reports on methanol poisoning from Cosmic Carabao, a locally crafted gin.

In a Facebook advisory, the group cleared assumptions that methanol production occurs during distillation process (production of spirits) and not during fermentation or brewing process (production of beers).

The group emphasized that the two processes are totally different and should not be interchanged with each other.

"In the US, there is a Brewers Association (BA) specifically for craft beers and another group, the American Distilling Institute (ADI) for craft spirits." CBAP added.

They clarified that the group's members strive to create delicious, artisanal beers that would appeal to all beer drinkers.

"We want to continue working with the general public and with regulatory bodies with regard to transparency and industry growth." the group ended.
