CEBU CITY - The Social Security System (SSS) has served show-cause orders against 11 delinquent employers in Dumaguete City.

Its “Run After Contribution Evaders’ (RACE) team of law enforcers and media proceeded to the 11 establishments to hand the orders.

SSS Acting Vice President for Operations Legal Services Division Renato Jacinto Cuisia said SSS had warned the establishment owners several times through demand letters, but they still failed to comply.

“That’s why SSS Dumaguete branch decided to include them in the employer list for the RACE operations. Of the 11 non-compliant business establishments, four have failed to report the correct number of their employees and remit their workers’ SSS contributions, and the other seven employers did not remit their employees’ contributions,” Cuisia said.

SSS served the orders on New Yan Yan Commercial, Eden’s Kandingan, U Feel Fun Inc., Southdale Integrated School Inc., Dumaguete Memorial Park, Nuat Thai, and Buffers Water Treatment and Technology for non-remittance of SSS contributions.

Also served were Bagong Proceso Oficina Inc., Dumaguete Industries and Marketing Corporation. Tri-DM Construction and Engineering Services, and JM Trucking for under reporting of employees and non-remittance of contributions.

SSS Dumaguete branch is expected to collect P1.7 million in contribution delinquency after the operations, Cuisia said. “We are more putting more teeth by coming out openly to the public and professing the need for the support of the public in so far as the social protection to the workers.”

The 11 employers are part of the initial list subjected to RACE and some have pending cases in the city, part of about 9,000 cases filed in various courts.
