Colonel Ariel Fulo, San Juan police chief, said that N. Domingo and F. Blumentritt Streets and their sidewalks have been occupied by vendors, rendering these impassable to pedestrians.

The clearing operation was conducted by Taskforce Disiplina around 3 p.m. Thursday.

“This was also in compliance with the directive of NCRPO chief Major General  Guillermo Eleazar. We are also receiving many complaints about it,” he said

The police chief said they did not take the products of the vendors. “We did not take any of their products, we just told them to leave the area to clear the sidewalk.”

After the clearing operations, Fulo said the traffic along the area became faster.

San Juan police said its men will conduct clearing operations every day to ensure that the sidewalks and roads will remain passable to the public.
