Parade kicks off Pintados-Kasadyaan Festival

TACLOBAN CITY – A grand parade will kick off the Pintados-Kasadyaan Festival of Festivals, the biggest cultural extravaganza in Eastern Visayas, Thursday.

Palo, Leyte, Mayor Remedios L. Petilla, the concurrent chairperson for the event, said four contingents from Leyte and Samar will participate in the parade. They are the Pasaka Festival of Tanauan, Tulo-usa Festival of Tolosa and Haru Tambalan Festival of Jaro, all in Leyte, and the Macarato Festival of Matuguinao in Samar.

Petilla said each contingent received P500,000 as subsidy from the office of Leyte Governor Leopoldo Dominico L. Petilla.

This year’s grand champion will receive P750,000, the second placer P500,000 and third placer P250,000.

Another P100,000 will go the contingents who will win for best in festival dance, best in street dance and best in costume.

An added attraction of the parade will be the Bb. Pilipinas Grand International 2018 Miss Eva Patalinhug who will be riding on a float.

The parade is one of the events leading to the fiesta of Tacloban on June 30.
