The annual ARISE General Meeting last April 29, 2019 held at the Mall of Asia Arena Annex Building, Pasay City, brought together various representatives from both public and private sectors, all united for one cause: to create risk-resilient societies.

Airspeed joined ARISE Philippines, believing on its vision to help the country in disaster risk reduction management. Committed to reduce the vulnerabilities, the corporate logistics company led by Chairman and CEO Rosemarie P. Rafael, signed a pledge of partnership joining other sectors, Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), and the SM Group in supporting the promotion of disaster preparedness and risk resiliency. Private companies, like Airspeed, are enabled to build their own capacity and develop strategies in making their organizations resilient to disaster risk, through continuous learning (from subject matter experts) and engaging in workshops which discuss best practices.

Rafael is eager for Airspeed to play a part in this relevant initiative. “At Airspeed, we’re very big on corporate social responsibility, and we should do our part in raising awareness regarding disaster risks and how to stay resilient,” says Mrs. Rafael. “As businesses, we need to learn how to protect ourselves and help protect others.”

During ARISE’s general meeting, participants not only learned how to respond to preventive measures against disaster, but also learned how to develop action plans to assure progress in establishing disaster resilient societies. Being encouraged to promote disaster preparedness and risk resiliency is one step closer to building a better nation.
