A Bulgarian policeman injured three children with a stun grenade Friday during what was meant to be a safety demonstration, a local prosecutor said.

A six-year-old girl was hospitalised with burns to her chest, neck and legs and two other children suffered less serious burns in the incident, at a stadium in Silistra, northeastern Bulgaria, the prosecutor said.

Police were demonstrating techniques for arresting criminals in front of 300 children, part of a police initiative dubbed "Let's play without danger" to mark International Children's Day.
