With an aim to aid local companies to further go into their journey in digital transformation, VST ECS Phils., Inc. formerly MSI-ECS Phils., Inc. brings Microsoft Azure Stack, the first in-country cloud service offering with a global standard in the Philippines.
Microsoft Azure Stack is a hybrid cloud solution that brings the agility and fast-paced innovation of cloud computing to on-premises environments. It allows enterprises and even small business to run a private Microsoft cloud locally in the Philippines rather than at one of Microsoft’s public data centers located outside the country.
With this, users will be able to maintain their data sovereignty given that their databases remain locally in the private cloud while the Azure web apps are accessible through the public cloud.
In an interview with Manila Bulletin TechNews, Mauricio Franco, Group Head for Cloud, Online and Data Center Services of VST ECS Phils., Inc. described the introduction of Azure in the Philippines as ‘very timely.’ The Microsoft Azure Stack will be available in the last week of May.
“The reason why it is timely is because of several things like the data privacy act requirements. Also, we have seen more and more companies already adapting to the cloud over the years. I think in the future there’s quite a bit of cloud adoption that will happen,” Franco said.
VST ECS collaborated with Dell and Microsoft for the launch of the Azure Stack in the country. Dell handled the hardware components while the software is from Microsoft.
“Microsoft Azure Stack allows sensitive data to be housed in the country or on the premise of customers. The model that we offer is a pay-as-you-go model which all customers need to do is to subscribe to services that will be offered on the Azure Stack, unlike others which users are required to buy the entire server,” he added.
Franco also mentioned that with Microsoft Azure Stack, customers won’t need to hire technical people since included in the said service is the Managed IT services feature which allows users to have VST ECS to manage their data center for them.
