LTO Assistant Secretary Edgar Galvante said that innovations in the agency will help them maximize the use of modern technology to make their services faster, more efficient, convenient and comfortable, and more importantly, to curb corruption.
Among the innovations launched by the LTO in the past year were its Personal Appointment and Scheduling System (PASS) which allows clients to make advance appointments; Motor Vehicle Plate Query which helps clients know the status of their motor vehicle plates; and the establishment of LTO Kiosks that are able to accept motor vehicle renewal transactions.
Adding in the list of technology-based system in the LTO is its new Information and Communications Technology Center (LTO ICTC) which was inaugurated on Tuesday during the opening of the week-long anniversary celebration.
According to Galvante, the LTO ICTC, which is located inside the LTO Central Office compound in Quezon City, will boost the date storage capacity and processing speed of transactions in the agency.
"It contains the hardware of the IT system and all core systems for driver’s license application, motor vehicle inspection and registration, law enforcement and traffic adjudication, revenue collection system, executive information system, online enrolment, and appointment system," Galvante bared.
Apart from these, the LTO-National Capital Region also signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the Bureau of Treasury (BTr) and the Land Bank of the Philippines for the use of its electronic payment portal (ePP) to enable dealers to facilitate payment for the initial registration of new motor vehicles.
The LTO-NCR also initiated the use of the Electronic Payment Assessment Tool (e-PAT), a web-based facility that computes the amount to be paid online.
The computed amount from the e-PAT and other relevant details are sent to the ePP while dealers may use their LandBank account to pay for the transaction online.
The payment is immediately reflected at the LTO-IT System which enables faster issuance of the vehicle’s official receipt and certificate of registration.
In line with the LTO's founding anniversary, the agency also opened a Motor Show featuring the latest and most modern vehicles including public utility vehicles (PUVs) of different car dealers and manufacturers.
The motor show is open to the public until Friday, May 24, at the flagpole area inside the LTO Central Office compound along East Avenue, Diliman, Quezon City.
