Outgoing senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero has been proclaimed governor of Sorsogon.
Escudero maintained his lead throughout the gubernatorial race with 303, 960 votes, as of 12:53 p.m. with 100 percent election results from a total of 768 clustered precincts.
Second was Bladi Frivaldo, who garnered 31, 867 votes, while three other candidates had around 2,000 votes.
Escudero of the Nationalist People’s Coalition will end his Senate term in June.
He will replace Robert Lee Rodrigueza as the local chief executive of the province.
