“Ngayong holy month of Ramadan, let it be a season for understanding, reaching out to our fellow Christians and a reminder that when you kill someone, it’s as if you kill all of humanity,” Gutoc, a Muslim, said Sunday.

Islamic committees have announced that Ramadan, which is one of the pillars of Islam, will begin tomorrow.

Muslims around the world will participate in a month-long self reflection and abstention from earthly desires such as sex and physical and emotional negative thoughts.

The senatorial bet has also asked for forgiveness from her fellow Muslims who may not agree to some of her actions, including the time when she entered a Catholic church in Camarines Sur.

“To all muslim Filipinos, I ask you forgiveness if I have done anything this election like yung pagpasok ko sa church na hindi niyo na intindihan since the first day of the campaign period I ask you forgiveness,” the Marawi civic leader said.

“Sa lahat po ng mga Muslim na hindi pa rin nakakaintindi sa akin, it is a plea that if you want Muslim representation , let me be your instrument,” Gutoc added.

With only a week before the midterm polls, Gutoc, together with other Otso Diretso candidates, launched a day-long campaign in Quezon City on Sunday.
