Farmer with 10 kids receives brand new bike from PRO13’s top cop

BUTUAN CITY – Regional Director of Northeastern Mindanao Police Regional Office 13 (PRO 13), Brigadier General Gilberto DC Cruz took pity on a farmer, who has 10 children and whose lone mode of transportation has gone into condition of disrepair, by giving him a brand new bicycle.

Cruz was making the rounds of police stations in Barangay Alubihid in Agusan del Norte when he noticed an old bike hanging outside a nipa hut where the family of Edgar B. Layao lived.

The region’s top police officer couldn’t but feel despair after he saw Layao living in the makeshift hut in Purok 6 of Barangay Buenavista with his wife and 10 children – aged one to 20 years old.

Right then and there, Cruz took the bicycle in a bid to have it repaired. But since it was in such a state of disrepair, he decided to give Layao a brand new one.

“I am so thankful to Sir Cruz for giving me a bike. I will no longer walk from home to farm because I now have this bike,” said Layao.
