Calvin Abueva and Jaypee Mendoza were fined P20,000 each to lead the final batch of sanctions handed out by the PBA Commissioner’s Office from the bruising Philippine Cup semifinal series between San Miguel Beer-Phoenix Pulse.

Abueva was penalized P15,000 for flashing a dirty finger at referee Peter Balao during the Fuel Masters’ 105-94 loss to the Beermen in Game 5 last Thursday at the Cuneta Astrodome.

Mendoza, on the other hand, was seen hitting San Miguel’s Chris Ross in the abdominal area after the league’s technical committee reviewed the incident after the contest.

Their teammate Matthew Wright got a P2,400 for his technical foul for a verbal altercation with San Miguel’s Matt Ganuelas-Rosser even as the Beermen’s Christian Standhardinger was fined P1,000 for using profane language.

The sanctions brought the total fine of the series to at least P153,000 after both teams engaged in a number of altercations.
