CAMP COL RAFAEL C. RODRIGUEZ, Butuan City — With the May 13 midterm elections drawing near, various police units of the Northeastern Mindanao Police Regional Office 13 (PRO 13) arrested nine persons in a series of operations against loose firearms across Caraga region on Monday.
Those arrested were charged with violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act and the Election Law.
“Some of the suspects were arrested during the implementation of search warrant issued by local courts in the region,” PRO 13 Regional Director P/Brig. Gen. Gilberto DC Cruz told The Manila Bulletin on Tuesday.
During the separate series operations in various parts in the region, police field units seized UZI Caliber 9mm pistol, two caliber .45 pistol Colt, .357 revolver, two 12 gauge shotgun, three short magazine of caliber .45 pistol Colt, one long magazine of UZI Caliber 9mm pistol, and 69 ammunition, the region’s top police official said.
Meanwhile, elements of San Jose Municipal Police Station (MPS) also seized 100 grams of marijuana amounting to P12,000 and a caliber .45 pistol from a suspect, who is now facing case on violation of the Philippine Drug Law and illegal possession of firearm, he said.
Cruz says that the police will continue to run after law violators, even if they were public officials or private citizens.
