‘Pistay Dayat’ 2019 in Lingayen, Pangasinan showcases sports tourism

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan — The celebration of Pistay Dayat 2019 heats up Saturday, April 20, as it showcases various sporting events to be played at the sprawling Capitol beachfront.

Modesto Operania, Provincial Sports Development and Management Council (PSDMC) executive officer said more tourists and Pistay Dayat revellers from nearby provinces will be visiting Pangasinan, particularly the Capitol beachfront in Lingayen, this summer.

Designated venues for the various sporting events are prepared at the Capitol beachfront.

On April 27 (7 a.m.), April 28 (8 a.m.) and April 30 (8 a.m.), the public will witness the Beach Volleyball tournament to be participated in by 12 local teams composed of two players each.

Beach Volleyball Republic will be presented at the peak of Pistay Dayat celebration on May 1 (7 a.m.)

Thirty amateur local boxers will see action in 15 bouts of the Paboksing ed Gulpo on April 29 (2 p.m.).

Pistay Dayat revellers could also try paragliding, a recreational sport, on April 27 (9 a.m.) and April 28 (8 a.m.).

For the third time, Tigasin Triathlon will be staged at the Capitol Complex in Lingayen. Triathletes will compete on four contested categories: standard (individual),sprint (relay), standard (relay), and sprint (individual) on May 4 (5 a.m.) and May 5 (5 a.m.).

The Pangasinan Visitors’ Bureau (PVB) will be sponsoring the PVB Governor’s Golf Cup on May 5 in Dagupan City.
