Man wanted for murder nabbed in Pasig

A man wanted for murder was arrested by operatives of Eastern Police District (EPD) at his house in Pasig City Wednesday.

In a report of P/MAJ Darwin Guerrero, EPD Special Operations Unit chief, to EPD Director P/BGEN Christopher Tambungan, the suspect was identified as 37-year-old Jerry Perez of Barangay Pinagbuhatan, Pasig City.

Perez was nabbed by the virtue of an arrest warrant issued by Hon. Judge Maria Cheryl Laqui-Ceguera, presiding judge of Regional Trial Court Branch 268 in Pasig City, on Jan. 10, 2019.

Investigation revealed that around 9:45 p.m. of Jan. 26, 2017 along S. Reyes Street, Villa Miguela Subdivision in Barangay Pinagbuhatan Pasig City, witness Willy Sarce, the stay-in worker of the nearby garment factory, heard successive gunshots.

Police said when Sarce opened the gate of their factory to check, he saw the bloodied victim who was later identified as Ramil Escalante Jr. He was shot to death by identified gunmen.

It was through continuous follow-up operation, with the aid of closed-circuit television (CCTV) footages, and the cooperation of the residents of Villa Miguela Subdivision that the identities of the four suspects, including Perez, were established, police said.

They were seen arguing with the victim prior to the killing, the police added.
