2019 YFL U15: Kaya Elite, Apuesto Bueno lead opening day winners

The U15 age group in the 2019 Speed Regalo Youth Football League season kicked off at the Manila Jockey Club with several teams clinching opening day victories to get an early advantage in the leaderboards.

Kaya Elite debuted with a convincing 4-1 over Ceres South after setting the tone early. Ceres, mainly relying on its counter-attacking game, tried to mount a comeback but the effort went for naught after another goal by Kaya in the second half.

Newcomers Bohemian Sporting Club, coached by former Philippine Azkal Jason De Jong, banked on an early goal to cruise past Mendiola, 3-0. Despite the result, De Jong pointed out things to improve on for his team.

“I think we could use the wings way better because most of the time it is very open on the sides and the finishing let us down a little bit because I think we had two or three open chances one-on-one,” said De Jong.

Apuesto Bueno kicked things off in convincing fashion after cruising past Laos FC as well, 5-1. The day also featured an intense matchup between MSA Aguila and Forza with the former prevailing, 2-1.

The YFL will return on April 9, Tuesday with simultaneous games at the Ayala Alabang Country Club for the younger age groups and at the Manila Jockey Club for the matches to be streamed.
