San Jose Bishop Roberto Mallari said the Church’s observance of 2019 as the Year of the Youth in preparation for the 500thyear of Christianity in the country in 2021 is an opportune time for the faithful, the youth in particular, to be thankful for the countless blessings such as the gift of faith.

“It is a time to highlight the important role played by the young in the communities where they belong. With the theme ‘Filipino Youth in Mission: Beloved, Gifted, Empowered,’ the Church calls on the young generation to actively help spread the mission of evangelization by sharing the Word of God to others,” Mallari said over Church-run Radio Veritas.

“Use your God-given talent to be one in the mission entrusted by Jesus Christ to those who serve the Church, to encourage others to live a life of faith. It is important to recognize and be grateful for the many blessings that we receive. Use new technology such as social media in spreading the Good News,” the bishop added.

Meanwhile, the National Youth Day is set to be observed on April 23 to 28 to be hosted by the Archdiocese of Cebu.

More than 10,000 youth representatives from the 86 archdioceses and dioceses from different parts of the country are expected to attend the event.
