67 nabbed in Pasay police dragnet

A total of 67 individuals were arrested by Pasay Police in simultaneous police operations from Friday to Saturday.

The operations also led to the confiscation of 36 sachets of suspected shabu with estimated market value of P30,000 from 15 individuals who are now facing drug charges.

P/Col. Bernard Yang, chief of Pasay City police, said they have been receiving reports about drug pushers in the city from residents in the barangays.

Authorities arrested alias "Pangga", 39, in a buy-bust operation in Barangay 131, while 11 sachets of illegal drugs were also retrieved from him.

Meanwhile, 21 sachets of suspected shabu were recovered from alias "Chukoy", 22, and alias "Wendell", 19. Police said they were apprehended when operatives spotted them holding sachets of illegal drugs along a street in Barangay 152.

The operation also resulted in the arrest of 41 city ordinance violators, 20 for drinking in public, 12 for illegal scalping, four for roaming around half naked, three for illegally acting as barkers, and two for urinating in public places.

Despite the election gun ban, police found a man cleaning his gun outside his house along J. Luna Street in Barangay 126. He was identified as Rodrigo Dela Cruz, 39. A .38 caliber revolver was retrieved from his possession.

It was later learned that Dela Cruz has an existing warrant of arrest for frustrated murder and grave threat. A case of violation of RA 10591 or Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act of 2013 is now being filed against him.

Yang said the10 others were nabbed for other violations such as rape, alarm scandal, illegal gambling, B.P. Blg. 6 in relation to RA 7166 or the Omnibus Election Code and RA 9262 or anti-violence against women and their children.
