CAMP GEN. PANTALEON GARCIA, IMUS, Cavite – Two drug suspects were killed while scores of others were arrested by police in operations over the weekend in Cavite.
The Cavite provincial police identified the fatalities as Jervie Cortez Ignacio, 33, a resident of Barangay 24, Cavite City, and Asnawe Opiz Bayabao, of Barangay Datu Esmael, Dasmariñas City.
Police said the suspects died when they shot it out with officers during a drug bust.
Pat. Jumar Bedural, case investigator, reported that Ignacio died when he traded shots with a police drug enforcement team at 10:50 a.m. Saturday. He was declared dead on arrival at Bautista Hospital.
Recovered were Ignacio's .38 cal. revolver, a wallet containing six sachets with shabu and P520 in cash.
Bayabao died in a shootout with another drug enforcement team on Governor's Drive in Barangay Paliparan I, Dasmariñas, at 11:40 p.m. Saturday.
