Wheelchair bound graduate succumbs to illness

The 25-year-old college student who graduated on a wheelchair with an oxygen tank in tow, who caused a stir on the internet because of the feat, passed away Wednesday.

Joemar Kenik Mangkok, who had been battling with rheumatic heart disease for five years, succumbed to his illness at the St. Louis Hospital in Tacurong City.

Shortly after his graduation, the news of which went viral, Mangkok was rushed to the said hospital.

Mangkok, despite of his illness, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Secondary Education, major in mathematics at the Southern Institute of Technology Inc. in Datu, Paglas Maguindanao.

His determination to attend their graduation ceremony, despite his condition earned a lot of positive reactions from netizens.
