Police are now investigating the motive behind the killing of a 69-year old imam who was repeatedly shot inside his home in Balabac town of Palawan.

Senior Supt. Socrates Faltado, spokesman of the MIMAROPA (Mindoro Oriental and Occidental, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan) regional police, said victim Oyong Mohadi Dukong was gunned down in front of his wife in Sitio Singcab in Barangay Bancalaan.

“He and his wife were watching television when he was repeatedly shot,” said Faltado.

The gunmen reportedly fled after ensuring the death of Dukong.

Recovered in the area were an empty shell and one live bullet for .30 caliber gun.

The southernmost part of Palawan is home to Filipino Moslems.

Faltado said police investigators were already deployed in the area to gather pieces of evidence that could lead to the identification of the gunmen.

The relatives and friends of the victim were also being asked by the police to get a lead that could lead as to why he was shot dead.
