A team from the Coast Guard Intelligence Group in Northern Mindanao, Coast Guard Station Misamis Oriental and Bureau of Customs in Cagayan de Oro inspected the MV Asia 19 Thursday on suspicion of carrying contraband items.

The team found about 60 bundles of ukay-ukay with an estimated street value of P360,000.

The law bans the importation of textile articles commonly known as used clothing.

The seized items were turned over to the Bureau of Customs in Cagayan de Oro. The bureau will either destroy the clothes or donate them to calamity victims. (Betheena Kae Unite)
