DAVAO CITY – Investigators here are now concluding that Jonas M. Bueno has no direct link to the gruesome murder of 16-year-old Christine Lee Silawan case in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu last week.
Police Regional Office (PRO) 11 regional director Chief Supt. Marcelo Morales said that, based on their assessment and evaluation of the circumstances after Bueno’s arrest, it was found that he was not involved in the Silawan murder case.
“He has been in Mindanao since last year so he is not involved in the Silawan murder case and that was his answer during the interview,” he said.
Morales said investigators from PRO 7 already went to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) 11 to conduct a validation on the suspect, and authorities were able to confirm that Bueno was not the perpetrator of the teenager’s killing.
However, he said Bueno will remain at NBI 11 detention cell for other rounds of investigation since he admitted that he killed a man in Danao City, Cebu in 2017.
For her part, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Davao City Field Unit (CIDG-DCFU) head Chief Insp. Milgrace Driz said ,
Bueno told them he was arrested for theft in Carmen, Cebu in 2011, and later convicted and imprisoned until 2016 in the Cebu Provincial Jail.
Driz said Bueno admitted that in 2017, he was involved in a shooting incident where he killed victim Boboy Lumen.
Record also bared that Bueno was charged, along with his brother Junry Bueno and brother in law Jury Mal-ang, and the warrant of arrest was issued by Judge Jerry Dicdican of RTC Branch 25 Danao City, Cebu.
