Trillanes belittles SWS survey on reduction of addicts

Opposition Senator Antonio Trillanes IV on Sunday said the latest survey released by the Social Weather Station (SWS) showing public’s perception that the number of drug addicts in their area decreased was not surprising, considering the thousands of people have already been killed during the Duterte regime’s brutal drug war.

Trillanes was referring to the latest SWS survey that showed that more than six out of 10 Filipinos, or 66 percent, believe that the number of drug addicts in their area has decreased over the past year.

The senator said most of these drug addicts that were killed did not even have the benefit of rehabilitation or any due process.

“Since libu-libo ang pinatay nyo na addicts (since thousands of drug addicts have died) without due process and without giving them the opportunity to be rehabilitated, di ba natural lang na mababawasan ang addicts (Isn't it natural that they were minimized?) ” Trillanes said in a statement.

“So, what are you celebrating, Mr. Panelo, the ruthlessness of your boss?” he reiterated.

Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo on Saturday lauded the latest SWS survey saying that the result of the survey is a validation of the administration’s campaign against illegal drugs.

The same survey also shows that 95 percent of adult Filipinos prefer capturing drug suspects alive, while five percent said it is not important.
