The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Saturday expressed their condolences to the family of Anthony Del Barrio, a Filipino American whose body was found in a frozen state in Chicago last month.

“The Philippine Consulate General in Chicago was in contact with police authorities who said they are investigating the death as a possible homicide,” the DFA’s statement read.

Del Barrio was reportedly with a male companion when he was shot at a Chicago suburb. The shooting might have happened between January 19 and 20.
His frozen body on the other hand was found on January 20.

A neighbor first saw the body and told police about the discovery. Del Barrio’s sibling theorized that the body was left in the said area throughout the night as it was already frozen when found.

The relatives of the victim are asking for assistance from the public to give authorities information as to who could have been responsible for the shooting.
