Sixty-three of 67 North Cotabato barangays voted for inclusion in BARMM

Sixty three of the 67 barangays in North Cotabato will be included in the newly formed Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

The Commission on Elections en banc, sitting as the National Plebiscite Board of Canvassers, proclaimed the inclusion of the said barangays in the BARMM Thursday as a result of the February 6 Bangsamoro plebiscite.

“(These barangays) shall form part of the BARMM considering that they voted favorably for their inclusion in the BARMM and that the majority of the votes cast in the municipalities to which these barangays belong is in favor of their inclusion in the BARMM,” the NPBOC said.

The said barangays are the following:

Nasapian, Carmen;
Pebpoloan, Carmen;
Tupig, Carmen;

Sanggadong, Kabacan;
Simbuhay, Kabacan;
Simone, Kabacan;
Tamped, Kabacan;
Damatulan, Midsayap;

The following barangays and their respective municipalities, on the other hand, will not be included in the BARMM namely Lower Mingading, Aleosan; Pagangan, Aleosan and Galidan, Tuluna all in North Cotabato.

“It will not form part of the BARMM considering that while they voted favorably for their inclusion in the BARMM, the majority of the votes cast in the municipality to which each of these barangays belongs is not in favor of the inclusion in the BARMM,” read the Comelec NPBOC resolution.

Barangay Balatican in Pikit, North Cotabato will also not be included as part of the BARMM.

“Considering that while majority of the votes cast in the municipality of Pikit to which it belongs is in favor of its inclusion in the BARMM, Barangay Balatican did not vote favorably for its inclusion in the BARMM,” the resolution read.

The Comelec NPBOC also proclaimed that the municipalities of Baloi, Munai, Nunungan, Pantar, Tagoloan, and Tangkal, all of the province of Lanao del Norte, shall not form part of the BARMM.

“While the majority of votes  cast in the following municipalities are in favor of the inclusion, the majority of votes  cast in Lanao del Norte, however, is not in favor of the inclusion to the BARMM,” it said.
