BORONGAN CITY, Eastern Samar – The Eastern Samar District Engineering Office (DEO) conducted seminars on civil engineering for students.

Manolo A. Rojas, district engineer, said the students were either graduating or taking up on-the-job-training (OJT).

Rojas said his office accommodates OJT students. “The district helps the students to expose themselves to real work environment and to give them new technologies especially those related to engineering interventions and practices,” Rojas said.

The students who attended the seminar were also sent to different DEO project sites in the province to observe actual field conditions.

Rojas said that last Nov. 20 and Dec. 4, two batches of senior high school students under the Technical-Vocational-Livelihood Track from Guiuan National High School attended an electrical safety seminar and orientation as part of their 10-day work immersion.

“It is an honor for me to be part of their (students) journey, I hope that what they learned here will be instilled in their minds and can be used in their future career,” Rojas said.

“It is our responsibility to share our knowledge to others especially to the next generation who will inherit our vision of providing excellent service to the public. We should give back to the community by assisting the young ones into knowledgeable individuals who can serve the public effectively and efficiently with integrity," he added.
