The state weather bureau recorded the coldest morning yet in Metro Manila this amihan season with the mercury dropping to 21 degrees Celsius Monday morning.

The lowest temperature reading in Metro Manila was observed at around 6:20 a.m. at the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA)’s Science Garden monitoring station in Quezon City.

The cold weather is attributed to the strong northeast monsoon or amihan affecting Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon and Visayas.

The coldest day in history in Metro Manila was registered twice on February 4, 1987 and December 30, 1988 at 15.1 degrees Celsius.
