The Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) is encouraging the faithful to observe and join its Red Wednesday Campaign on November 28, a solidarity campaign in support of “Christians and other faith minorities who are persecuted because of their love for God.”

Holy Masses and special prayer services for persecuted Christians across the world will be held at exactly 6:30 p.m. in about 1,300 parish churches, schools and other institutions in different parts of the country in support of the campaign. Churches and schools will also be lighting red candles and red lights in observance of the event.

The faithful are also encouraged to wear red as a show of support to the campaign.

“Red Wednesday aims to spread awareness on the persecution suffered by Christians and other faith minorities in different parts of the world. Through the campaign, we hope to highlight the importance of solidarity in prayer as a way of honoring and recognizing the plight of persecuted Christians,” said Jonathan Luciano, Philippine national coordinator of ACN over Church-run Radio Veritas.

“We hope that every year, we will offer our prayers as one nation for persecuted Christians, not only for Catholics but also, for other Christian denominations who are experiencing difficulties and restraint in the practice of their faith in Christ,”
