Classes were disrupted at Reedley International School in Pasig City after the school receptionist received a text message warning of an explosive planted inside a student’s bag on Friday morning.

The school was cleared of threats at around 1:45 p.m. when members of the Explosive Ordinance Division, Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team and the K9 Unit of Pasig City Police found no improvised explosive device (IED) and other similar explosive devices in the school premises.

The text message was received at around 8:52 a.m. from an anonymous sender.

“Your school is going down in a few hours. An explosive was sneaked inside your building early this morning at around 6:45 a.m. to 7 a.m. via a student’s bag,” the text released by the Eastern Police District (EPD) read.

Students and teachers were evacuated at barangay Ugong covered court while authorities were conducting an inspection at the school building.

The school is surrounded by two other schools and is only a few meters away from Ugong Barangay Hall.
