Quitain, former administrator of Davao City government, temporarily takes the place of the President’s long-time Christopher Go who will run for senator in the upcoming elections.

The designation of Quitain was contained in a memorandum signed by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea last November 9. It was released to the media Monday.

"In the exigency of service, please be informed that President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has approved your designated as OFFICER-IN-CHARGE of the OFFICE OF THE SPECIAL ASSISTANT TO THE PRESIDENT, effective immediately," the memo on the appointment of Quitain read.

Quitain is currently an Undersecretary of the Office of the President. He served as Davao City administrator when Duterte was mayor.
