Key AFP leaders don new ranks

Eight top leaders of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) don new ranks in separate ceremonies presided by President Rodrigo Duterte and AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Carlito Galvez Jr.

The President donned new ranks to now Lt. Gen. Ronnie Evangelista, superintendent of the Philippine Military Academy; Lt. Gen. Macairog Alberto, commanding general of the Philippine Army; and Maj. Gen. Erwin Bernard Neri, chief of the Intelligence Service of the AFP at Villamor Air Base, Pasay City, on Wednesday.

Five other officers donned new ranks in a ceremony held at Bulwagang Balangiga in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City on Thursday.

Promoted to the rank of major general were Brig. Gen. Felipe Bejar Jr,. chief AFP Corps of Engineers; Brig. Gen. Erickson Gloria, AFP Deputy Chief of Staff for Personnel, J1; and Brig. Gen. Pio Diñoso III, AFP Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics, J4.

Promoted to the rank of brigadier general were Col. Reno Tolentino, Assistant Deputy Chief for Personnel, AJ1; Col. Adrian Sanchez Jr., Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff for Communications, Electronics and Information Systems Service, AJ6; and Col. Ben Hur Cudal, chief Dental Service AFP.

“Promotion in the AFP organization is a continuous, dynamic, and vital process that needs to be undertaken to ensure that the right key players are placed in the forefront to maintain the AFP’s momentum toward growth and development,” Galvez said.

“It is part of the military’s professionalism as a primary trait to enforce adherence to the chain of command. These help and inspire our soldiers to perform their duties more efficiently and effectively,” he added.
