Science ministers of Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)-member states and other key leaders in the region will be gathering in Cebu on October 15-19 to tackle the development of STI and its deployment for sustainable growth.

The DOST said it is full steam ahead in its preparations to ensure the meeting will deliver on the commitment of making STI regionally-strong and integrated, globally-excellent, and responsive to the needs of the ASEAN population.

It said it will also showcase unique Filipino heritage, inviting local micro, small and medium Enterprises (MSMEs) movers and stakeholders in other DOST-assisted projects.

They will put up an exhibit that will promote their crafts to the foreign delegation, said the DOST.

Forums on health ethics, technology transfer, innovation promotion, and youth leadership in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) are lined up as well.

Last year’s meeting held in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar approved several STI projects worth thousands of dollars.
